2025 Update: Came back with a bigger party. The food was good. My wife loved the vegetarian cauliflower dish. It seemed to have a sweet Asian like sauce to it. She received it very hot. I had the grouper. It was very tasty but unfortunately is was lukewarm when I ate it. That's the rub on this visit. We came in a party of four double date. But every drink and plate of food came separately. I'm sure my fish sat aside waiting to get served. I won't change the 4 stars down and may give this place one more shot. Feb 2023 Great meals with 2 drawbacks, which prevented me from making this a 5 star rating. My wife and I had the Sliced Fillet Mignon and The Red Grouper. Both most expensive items at $36 each. Both were very good. The drawbacks? First was excessive noise from banging of pots and plates behind the bar made it very difficult to hold a conversation. The second was dessert we decided to have because dinner was sooo good. I love bread pudding so tried it. It’s always served hot like it’s fresh from the oven. This was was warm with a really cold core. Both of these items gave our party the distinctive impression that the staff really wanted to leave early this Saturday night. Over all a positive experience and we will return. However if they want to obtain my full 5 stars you will need address these last 2 items.
Really good spot. Passed it at night and looked really nice so decided to give it a try after reading some reviews. The atmosphere is nice, service was good, and food hit the spot. Prices were pretty damn good. The pot og gold was delicious, great dip. The burger, thought not smashed, had really good flavor. The patty seasoning was good and the onion jam gave it a nice sweetness. The fries were solid as well. Lastly had the Dutch pancake which was also good. Good crepe flavor, thicker than standard crepes, woth a nice raspberry jam.
Wow completely 10/10 service, atmosphere was top notch. Food was AMAZING. Drinks were incredible!! Our server Emily was such a peach a must try. We will be back!
There aren’t enough stars!! I went on a quieter evening during the week (they were busy but I didn’t have a wait) and since I was alone that night I brought a book to enjoy. When they realized that, they informed me an igloo had opened up so I had the whole beautiful lit up, warm and quiet igloo all to myself for 90 minutes!! The food and drink was DIVINE. The fish was cooked PERFECT and I had a pomegranate Moscow mule that I am now trying to recreate at home. The staff was attentive and enjoyable to chat with. It was the best night away as a tired mom that just needed some incredible food and a nice atmosphere. Thank you for being so wonderful!!
Beautiful restaurant. Music was a little loud but otherwise food and service was worth the price tag. The Filet Mignon was to die for. Juicy, soft, melted in my mouth. The risotto was delicious, and the oyster mushrooms were seasoned perfectly. Highly recommend stopping in and trying a steak.
Friends from Chicago came into town and I had long been hearing about Dog & The Bank's brunch. It certainly didn't disappoint and my friends were impressed too, a difficult task for those used to the culinary diversity of their stomping grounds. We all had a hard time deciding what to try because the menu features so many great choices! Those of us that had arugula all enjoyed it and love a good added green! We will definitely be back and certainly with any other out of towners looking for elevated cuisine at a reasonable price with excellent service and ambiance.
Came here with my wife and my Dad for dinner a week ago. At last, we've completed the trifecta! (Bird Dog, Dog and The Bank and Lady Bird). You can definitely see elements of both of the other restaurants in this one, but the brick building is unique among all of them. The outdoor seating is quite nice, especially with the trees mixed in. The service was good, our waitress was quite attentive and quite friendly. We started with the pot of Gold. That was so good! They give you a generous amount of crab too! We also got oysters, and those were good as always For my entree, I got the fish and chips. I'm not kidding when I say it's the best fish and chips I've ever had! Light, yet very tasty, and that pea puree is so good with it! Wow!! I was not disappointed! For dessert I got the peanut butter pie. Peanut butter pie is either good or meh. This one was good! It was a great dinner experience for all of us
The Dog and the Bank in Plainwell is an absolute gem! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm, inviting, and full of character. The historic building adds a unique charm, and the decor strikes the perfect balance between cozy and stylish. The food was outstanding—fresh, creative, and clearly made with care. We especially loved the burgers and the inventive appetizers. The craft cocktails were equally impressive, with thoughtful ingredients and expert presentation. Our server was friendly, attentive, and genuinely seemed to enjoy being there, which made the whole experience even better. Whether you’re looking for a relaxing night out or a special place to bring friends, The Dog and the Bank delivers on all fronts. We’re already planning our next visit—Plainwell is lucky to have a spot like this. Highly recommend!
